Well, poor Kathryn is sick.  Had quite the fever yesterday afternoon and evening, and again this morning.  All she wants to do is watch “Bob” (Veggietales) and when she is sick I can’t really deny her that.  Otherwise she just cries and I have to hold her.  So we have watched a lot of “Bob” lately, including “Lord of the Beans” twice early this morning before Darryl was up.  Last night when she started to feel better after some medicine, she wanted her nursery nametag pinned onto her.  I think that is a riot because we have tried to take her to nursery twice and it hasn’t turned out well at all.

Darryl and I had an interesting experience this weekend.  On Friday he called and said one of the partners in his office was giving away 2 tickets to a play for Saturday night.  He was able to get the tickets so we got a babysitter and were excited to go to a play.  It was called “Lady of Dubuque”, which we had never heard of, and we looked for the synopsis online.  When we got to the theater we saw the partner and his wife there also (seats next to ours).  We hadn’t realized that he had 4 tickets altogether.  But Darryl was glad because this is a partner he works with on a couple clients and wanted to get to know them better.  They were super nice, have 6 kids, and it was great.  Then the play started.  Within the first few minutes I was sure that I could not endure the entire play.  It was full of vulgar language, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard so much in my life, at least not so harsh.  I was so uncomfortable and could barely focus on what was happening in the play.  I wanted to get up and walk out, (as did Darryl) but we ended up waiting for the intermission.  We didn’t know if we would be allowed to leave before the intermission (play etiquette).  Neither of us had been in a situation before where we needed to leave something like that, but there was no way I could watch the rest of the play.  So we excused ourselves and told the partner and his wife that we were uncomfortable with the language and wouldn’t be able to stay for the rest.  It was a bigger deal for Darryl, who works with this man on a regular basis and didn’t want to be rude when we were their guests at the play.  They were very understanding, though (at least it seemed).  It was very interesting for us, and Darryl used the experience for discussion in the teachers quorum on Sunday.

Darryl has started some voice lessons.  I got him a month of voice lessons for Christmas from a woman in our ward.  (Holly Johnson who I think mom and dad might know, she sang at Kathryn’s blessing.)  She is very talented and very trained and sang with the Seattle opera last year, now they have a 3 month old baby boy named Issac.  Anyway, she won’t teach unless the student performs!  So Darryl is going to have to do that.  I told him to tell me the things he learns because I am too chicken to actually take voice lessons.  But I want to take fiddling lessons after hearing about Marie Bates!

We recently bought the game Bang, which some of you know about from John.  It has taken quite a few rounds for me to understand it well, but it is really fun.  We have the regular and expansion sets (to answer a question from John).

I’m getting bigger all the time, and next week is the time when we will start discussing names!  Darryl is willing to make a list of 5 names (and I also do 5 names) that we put together 3 months before the due date.  I am open to suggestions for names, even lobbying.
