I hear you on the cost of memberships. Good move on your part buying the membership. I ended up buying an MFA membership for the same reasons. In merely 2.5 visits it will start to pay for itself. There's enough at the museum for multiple visits, so 1+ 1=2 and I now have a membership to the MFA. What a great place! I hear you on the cost of memberships.
