Irresistible

Posted by Amanda on August 31st, 2011

Here are way too many pictures of Michael, at 5 1/2 months.  I tried to only pick the cutest ones…  He is sitting and got two teeth on the bottom recently.  Oh, and he is getting close to crawling!  Up on his hands and knees, rocking back and forth.  He can kind of scoot backwards and turn, and loves to roll over.  Lots of fun!

Doesn’t that just melt your heart?

Scenes from the Move

Posted by Amanda on August 30th, 2011

Starting with packing.  We packed up quite a bit of stuff and stored it in a POD while our house was for sale.  It was really nice to have so much packing already done when we went to pack up the rest of our house and move.

Here is the POD looking very full with lots of things still to be packed.  Will we make it?

Somehow Darryl did it!  There were a few things we didn’t think would fit and we’d have to give away.  But Darryl got them all in that POD!

All the moving and swimming (subject of another post) have made us pretty tired.  Darryl found Amelia and Daniel like this one night.

Kindergartener

Posted by Amanda on August 30th, 2011

Yesterday was Kathryn’s first day of kindergarten!   I have been waiting for this day for awhile.  Partly because she turns 6 in a few days and in many places she could have gone to kindergarten last year.  Partly because school here actually started 2 weeks ago but we were not moved in yet.  Partly because I love school and I am so excited for her.

Somehow the morning kindergarten class that teaches Spanish wasn’t full.  So we snatched that class up.  Kathryn’s cousin Hannah is also in the class!

Here she is with each sibling before leaving for school.

Amelia looks like a kindergartener herself!  The teacher once thought she was Kathryn.  I am really excited for next year when Amelia goes to kindergarten because then I will only have 2 kids at home!!!  For the morning at least…

And here she is with Hannah coming out of the classroom on her first day.

It was a great first day.  Darryl was home, so at lunch he and I both got to hear all about what happened.  I felt like I had accomplished a lot, until I realized that we had to go again the very next day!  Everyone up, dressed, out the door at 8:00 again?!  Everyday?!  Good thing I like mornings…

Summer

Posted by Amanda on August 8th, 2011

Here are some things we did this summer – besides getting ready to move and taking a 2 week trip to Canada (about which I am hoping to post someday).

Wading pools.

Saw “Kit Kittredge” at the summer dollar movies with our neighbors.  Super cute “American Girl” movie.  Highly recommended!  This was in the van because I forgot to take a picture at the theater.

Breaking the Silence

Posted by Amanda on August 8th, 2011

I guess we thought everyone already knew, but we were recently informed that Melanblog has been silent on the issue of our move.  So in case you didn’t know, we are moving to Sacramento, California! It was a very long decision process, and ultimately we really felt that is where God wants us to be. We put our townhouse up for sale and it sold in 3 weeks. A small miracle!

Okay, she wasn’t the only one!

We’ll be gone in a few days to start a new chapter in our lives.
